I really enjoyed this piece. I completely understand the emotions and you've written something so many people, maybe women in particular, can relate to. Great stuff!

Beautiful imagery on the vagaries of life. Life is so fleeting, and sometimes unfair. And all too often broken things cannot be made whole again. Really a poignant piece of writing here.

I thought this was a good take on life and philosophy. You've gathered up a variety of stray thoughts and weaved them into something very interesting.

Well done

I especially like all your detail; characters stand right up off the page. I like the lie, too; its credible and absolutely necessary. Regarding E's scolding (acknowledging this is fiction), end of the day: the girls are brats, the daughter was wrong to bring the dog without permission, AND it sounds like Houseguest Manners skipped two generations.

This is damn good writing, to evoke responses as if this were real. Winks. Kate

So I'm all set up to hate the kids and their unruliness. But then the g'ma lets the dog out and the dog gets killed. My heart is breaking for them. Unruly and misbehaving or not, that poor puppy suffered because of all of them. Ok, yes, I know it's fiction. (breathing heavily)
Very well done. Brava!
